Refugee
Resettlement
International Services Center
resettles refugees from dozens of countries to the Greater Cleveland area
through the U.S. State Department in cooperation with the
United States Committee for Refugees and
Immigrants (USCRI).
Since 1994, the U.S. Department of State has rated the ISC program their
highest rating, "commendable".
ISC coordinates all aspects of transitioning to an American culture.
Immigration and Citizenship Services
ISC is accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel and
represent people before the United States Citizenship and Immigration
Services and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
ISC offers preparation for the U.S. citizenship interview.
Fingerprinting and Photos
We offer passport photographs and both electronic and ink-rolled
fingerprinting for non-immigration purposes.
Job Counseling and Training
One on one counseling for
individual needs helps assess job skills and introduces the American work
environment. Job training helps a refugee become self-sufficient by
securing and maintaining employment. ISC has relationships with numerous
local employers for job placement after training is complete.
English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
All levels of ESOL are taught to
adults by certified teachers experienced in teaching English to people who
speak another language. During the summer, these classes are available for
children as well as adults.
Language Bank
Volunteers offer translation and
interpretation services in over 50 languages for courts, hospitals,
schools, and government offices. Individual requests for translations are
also available.
